Alex Ovechkin tops Wayne Gretzky’s record for empty-net goals

In Saturday’s victory over the Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin broke a Wayne Gretzky NHL goals record, though he does n’t intend to do so anytime soon.

The 57th clear messier in NHL history, Ovechkin broke a tie with Gretzky for the most at 19:33 of the next period. The Capitals defeated the Bruins 3–0 in Boston to end a six-game losing run.

Ovechkin currently trails Gretzky’s NHL job total of 894 goals with only 60 goals.

In their NHL jobs, no other player has ever scored more than 40 empty-handed goals. Ovechkin needed 1, 394 activities to surpass Gretzky’s 56 bare online goals total in 1,487 games.

Additionally, Ovechkin is the NHL’s all-time leader in power-play goals ( 304 ) and overtime goals ( 26 ).

It was the 12th purpose scored by the Capitals captain of the year. Ovechkin is heating up with targets in four straight games while Washington’s ranking result is declining. On Sunday, the Assets face the Vancouver Canucks at home.
