Running back Jerick McKinnon was expected to be activated from injured supply before Super Bowl LVIII, according to Chiefs head coach Andy Reid earlier this year, but that was the only opportunity he needed.
McKinnon will be able to perform against the 49ers on Sunday after the Chiefs activated him on Saturday. Whether he will enjoy or not is still up in the air. According to his groin injury, McKinnon was listed as limited in training all week and as doubtful to enjoy.
In 12 games this year, McKinnon had 21 carries for 60 feet and a touchdown, 25 catches for 192 feet, and four touchdowns. In the Chiefs ‘ Super Bowl victory last year, he had four carries for 34 yards and three catches for 15 miles. In order for the Chiefs to run out of time before Harrison Butker’s game-winning field goal, he stopped his previous have at the Philadelphia 2 yard line.
This week, Kansas City even activated wide receiver Skyy Moore from the wounded reserve.
