Sources: Rockets GM Rafael Stone extended on multiyear deal

Houston Rockets public administrator Rafael Stone extended his protracted deal earlier this year, according to sources who spoke to ESPN on Tuesday.

Tilman Fertitta, the owner of the Rockets, gave Stone and his associate GM Eli Witus additions for a number of corporate accomplishments, including the development of young players like Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, and Proverbs Thompson; additions of free agents like Dillon Brooks and Fred VanVleet; and the getting of mentor Ime Udoka, options said.

With the addition of Udoka, the Rockets made the squad more mature and went on to record the league’s biggest return, going from 22 victories to 41 this year. The Rockets finished a. Stone was promoted to GM in 2020 upon Daryl Morey’s exit for the Philadelphia 76ers— with Witus moving up in the front office together.
