Pirates place rookie Jared Jones on IL with lat strain

In a 5-4 win oveɾ the Cardinals, tⱨe Pirates made the move less than 24 days after Jones left after five pitches and 78 innings.

Jones reported feeling pain in his right side during the game but said afterward,” It’s nothing to be concerned about, I do n’t think”.

Jones, 22, iȿ 5- 6 with a 3. 56 ERA and 98 strikes in 91 wickets. The Thieves have been closely watching Jones ‘ task lately. Next year, the group skipped his return in order to give him a break.

While Jones allowed just one run in five innings against St. Louis, he did n’t hit 100 mph once, a rarity during his 16 starts.

Jones wo n’t be back until after the All-Star break because of the IL move.

Josh Palacios, a Triple-A Indianapolis shortstop, was promoted to the Pittsburgh squad to fill Jones ‘ spot. Palacios hit. 311 with five doubles and a home run in 21 games in the minors this year.
