After wife gives birth, Carlo scores in Bruins’ Game 1 win

SUNRISE, Fla. — Have a morning, Brandon Carlo.

The Boston Bruins defenseman was n’t with his staff Monday night for an excellent reason: His wife, Mayson, was giving birth to their son, Crew, the couple’s second child.

Carlo flew to South Florida after the mother and baby were both doing well, scoring a second-period aim for the Bruins before arriving at Amerant Bank Arena later than the rest of his friends.

” It’s definitely 24 hours that I wo n’t forget”, Carlo said.

The former scored with 21 hours left in the second, getting his next goal of the playoffs and giving Boston a 3- 1 lead after 40 minutes. In the next round of the Stanley Cup finals, the Bruins won 5-1 to extend their line lead over the Florida Panthers.

” Man, I do n’t celebrate often, but I raised my hands on that one”, Boston goaltender Jeremy Swayman said, when asked about his reaction to the Carlo goal. ” It’s so amazing what he did now, only the attitude that he brought. He was therefore thrilled”.

The goal that sent Boston to Florida for Round 2 and Carlo’s help was also recorded by Carlo. On Saturday evening, he assisted in the scoring of David Pastrnak‘s aim, which gave Boston the series-winning run in Game 7 versus the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After Monday’s gain, Carlo was sent to the halftime floor for a news event, something reserved for a playoffs game’s biggest celebrities in the NHL. He found himself in unfamiliar place.

” I do n’t score very often”, said Carlo, who now has five points this postseason. ” But, it was a very great practice for me”.

The Bruins even had a strong 5-1 win over the Leafs as their first-round series opener.

Discipline Jim Montgomery said,” I believe our trust has increased. ” ” That trust makes you believe”.
