Boy Scouts of America Announces Name Change

The name of The Boy Scouts of America is changing.

Beginning in February the 115- yr- ancient organization, launched to develop skills and character among boys and young men, will become known as Scouting America.

The group said on Tuesday that the title change reflects the organization’s “unwavering commitment to allowed every youth and family in America to the benefits of scouting. “

” Though our name will be fresh, our mission remains constant: we are committed to teaching young people to be prepared—for life”, Roger A. Krone, president and chief executive officer of the firm, said. As we strive to make sure everyone feels encouraged during scouting, we will be making a simple but very significant development.

Five decades after Boy Scouts of America began accepting women into the system, the name change was made.

Scouting America, previously Boy Scouts of America,” currently serves more than 176, 000 girls and young women across all applications, including over 6, 000 who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout”, the organization said.

Usually, younger guys first became Cub Scouts before graduating to Boy Scouts, while women became Brownies before graduating to Girl Scouts.

In 2013, Boy Scouts began allowing openly gay officials to join, and then in 2015.

” Scouting America provides a loving, safe environment where children can become the best type of themselves by learning from and respecting each additional”, Krone said in Tuesday’s speech. Everyone should visit us and go out and experience the advantages of scouting,” I urge everyone to join us. “

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Boy Scouts underwent challenges in terms of membership. The group was recently renamed Scouting America.

The Associated Press reported that Boy Scouts of America participation decreased from 1. 9 million in 2019 to 1. 1 million in 2020, and it also continued to decline in 2021. Now, according to the group’s website, the scouting organization has over 1 million people ranging in age from 5 to 21.

Girl Scouts of the USA claims that despite its business being aimed at girls, it allows trans youth to join despite Scouting America’s purposefully branding itself as an organization for all youth.

The Girl Scouts filed a lawsuit in 2018 alleging that the Boy Scouts had harmed its interviewing work and had created confusion in the brand. The case eventually ended in a lawsuit.

Since its 1910 establishment, more than 130 million Americans have participated in the Boy Scouts ‘ programs.
