Florida Sues Biden Admin to Block New Trans Health Care Rule

Following the release of a law prohibiting discrimination against health care providers based on “gender identity” or” physical orientation,” Florida filed a complaint against President Joe Biden’s leadership on Tuesday.

As part of the Affordable Care Act, the Department of Health and Human Services ( HHS) approved the rule on April 26 that forbids health care and insurance providers receiving federal funding from refusing to treat a patient based on their gender identity or sexual orientation.

According to a press release, Republican Attorney General of Florida Ashley Moody announced that her company had filed a complaint against the section for trying to “force Florida to violate its own rules” prohibiting doctors from sex-change procedures on minors.

” Florida passed a law to protect our children from harmful, inevitable gender- move medicines and therapies. According to Moody in the press release, Biden and his federal bureaucrats are currently trying to circumvent our child-protection laws and levy money on the condition to pay for child gender transition surgery and puberty blockers. We will not be content as Biden attempts to use the power of the federal government to unlawfully stifle Florida’s efforts to protect children because these laws violate says ‘ ability to protect their own people.

Almost half of the states have passed laws that prohibit minors from having sex-change medical treatments. In May 2023, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, signed a costs barring the “mutilation” of minors through sexual- change surgeries and the prescription of puberty blockers for people under 18.

The lawsuit argues that doctors who “refuse to deliver empirical, sterilizing,’ gender- change ‘ interventions to persons suffering from mental distress—including small children”, will be at risk of losing their jobs due to the administration’s new rule. If allowed to take effect, Florida claims that the advice may even “override” the country’s regulations on the subject and “go far beyond the limits of Section 1557 and Title IX”.
