It’s ‘Difficult’ But You Can’t ‘Destroy the Entire People’ in the Area

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s” The Source”, Sen. Bernie Sanders ( I- VT ) responded to a question on what Israel should do given the Hamas fighters in Rafah and Hamas holding hostages by stating that it’s” a difficult issue” and “you’ve got to go after Hamas, but no, you cannot continue, literally, almost to destroy the entire people in that region”.

After host Kaitlan Collins praised President Joe Biden for promising to withdraw some weapons from Israel if they enter Rafah’s community centres but said he would go further and refuse to pay any price if the “incredibly harmful war” is continued, host Kaitlan Collins asked,” S] ome other people who view this differently than you do may look at it and say, well, President Biden has also said Israel should do what it takes to beat Hamas. ” And the IDF says that there are Hamas troops in Rafah, that Yahya Sinwar, a key president of Hamas, is it, victims are there. But, I think some people may notice this and say, well, what does Israel perform”?

Sanders responded,” Appearance, it is a tricky issue. Hassan is a challenging adversary to defeat. They are a extremist group, they use human weapons, it is genuine. However, consider that Gaza has been completely destroyed, something America cannot and should not be. The system, knowledge, the healthcare system decimated, and so many women and children who are killed. But, yes, you’ve got to come after Hamas, but no, you don’t remain, practically, about to destroy the entire individuals in that place”.
