The Harrison County Board of Education claimed at the order hearing on Thursday that it had not targeted the adult learners but that district regulations require that athletes who deliberately leave a meet even be required to neglect the following competitors, according to 12 WBOY News. The panel reiterated this in a statement following the court’s decision.
” The kids were permitted to engage in their selected form of protest without issue”, the committee said in a statement, according to a press release. The instructors and deputy, in fact, allowed the students to stay on the roster for their events because they were aware of the possibility of the protests. However, those students were bound by a group rule that prohibits any person from competing in an event at the following track meet. This natural, school-specific law was in place prior to the pupils ‘ demonstrations and is unrelated to those demonstrations in any way.
However, two of the learners claimed they had been ordered to perform extra drills at the following process as punishment and that they had never been informed of the guideline, according to 12 WBOY News.
