Rick Bowness, Andrew Brunette, Rick Tocchet up for Adams Award

Rick Bowness, Andrew Brunette and Rick Tocchet are the contenders for this year’s Jack Adams Award, the NHL announced Friday.

The manager is” adjusted to have contributed the most to his team’s success,” and the award is given annually.

Bowness led the Jets to a 52-24-6 history in his second season there, which is next in the Central Division and third in the NHL with 114 items. The Jets dominated defensively, tying for the fewest goals against in the league ( 2. 41 per game ) while sitting 15th in offense ( 3. 16 goals per game ). Winnipeg even broke a record eight-game winning run for the first time as part of a longer 14-game winning streak. Bowness handled private matters when he stepped away from the staff to take care of his wife after having a seizure, among other things.

Brunette, who had formerly served as the time chair manager in Florida, recently accepted his second full-time position with Nashville this year. The Carnivores started slowly under Brunette, but they exploded way through the season, posting a 47-30-5 report that earned them a later playoffs spot. They finished the season tied for 11th in the league with 99 points. The Predators established a strong structure and consistency under Brunette’s guidance, ranking 14th in defense ( 3. 02 GA ) and 10th in offense ( 3. 24 GF ).

Tocchet is returning from his first full season as Vancouver‘s coach, where he helped them finish the season at the top of the Pacific Division with a 50-23- 9 record and place them sixth in the league ( 109 points ). The Islanders finished 22nd in the previous year, which was a significant improvement. Vancouver was top- 10 in key categories through the 2023- 24 campaign, including offense ( sixth ) and defense ( sixth ), and it generated the 11th- best power play ( 22. 7 % ). The Canadians have n’t qualified for the postseason since 2019-20 under Tocchet.
