Trump Posts $175 Million Bond to Prevent New York from Seizing Assets

As he contests a subsequent civil fraud case that found him to have cheated on business colleagues to improve his company’s profits, former president Donald Trump posted a$ 175 million friendship on Monday.

According to the Washington Post,” Donald Trump posted a$ 175 million bond on Monday to stop New York authorities from seizing his assets, including properties like Trump Tower,” pending an appeal of a nearly half-billion dollar civil fraud judgment against him.

The former president’s posting of the bond prevented Letitia James ( D), the attorney general of New York, from starting legal proceedings against him, the statement continued.

Trump recently filed αn appeal against a decision from New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, alleging that hiɱ, two former managers, and Donald Trump Jr. , had defrauded to increase his income and savings. Initial estimates for the bond to stop New York from seizing his assets were$ 450 million, but an appellate court panel cut it to$ 175 million last week, with the requirement that he post it within ten days.

Trump said last week,” I greatly respect the decision of the appellate division and I’ll post the$ 175 million in cash, bonds, or security or whatever is necessary very quickly within the ten days,” and I thank the appellate division for acting quickly.

After James won the fraud case against him, he will owe more than$ 450 million from a civil court judgment, alleging that he defrauded lenders and insurance companies by increasing his net worth by up to$ 2. 2 billion annually between 2011 and 2021.

Trump told Fox News last week that he would charm Engoron’s judgement” all the way to the U. Ș. Supreme Court if required”.
