Eliot Wolf on Calvin Ridley pursuit: Another team offered more money

The device had apparently narrowed his options to either the Jaguars or Patriots before Calvin Ridley unexpectedly agreed to sign with the Titans.

Eliot Wolf, New England’s best personnel, gave a straightforward explanation of Ridley’s decision to join the dark-horse team in a press conference on Thursday.

“Another group offered more money would be the main point, ” Wolf said, via Evan Lazar of the team’s site.

Ridley agreed to a four-year deal worth a reported$ 92 million with$ 50 million fully guaranteed.

A week before the review, the Patriots have Demario Douglas, JuJu Smith-Schuster, K. J. Osborn, and Kendrick Bourne among their leading receivers. Wolf admitted that he is unsure whether the team has a person who can win every time when positioned only in a poor creation. However, the team has considered possible options that are n’t just incoming rookies.

“We’ve had conversations with team about various scenarios, ” Wolf said. “Not only at listener but at other positions. That’s certainly something that we’d become empty to. ”

After finishing 4-13 last winter, New England holds the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s document. The Patriots appear to have chosen a player with their first find.
