How Much DNC Gave to Ex-Biden DOJ Official Prosecuting Trump

Federal Election Commission data reveal that the lead attorney for the “hush money” case against former president Donald Trump was contacted by the Democratic National Committee in 2018.

Matthew Colangelo, who was President Joe Biden’s acting associate attorney general and spent two years in the current government’s Justice Department, joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office as top counsel in December 2022.

The attorney received$ 12, 000 from the Democratic National Committee for “political consulting” in two bills of$ 6, 000 on Jan. 31, 2018, FEC records show.

The DNC’s payment to Colangelo were first reported by Fox News Digital.

Due to Judge Juan Merchan’s imposed a gag order, which forbids the former senator from addressing the case’s prosecution besides Bragg, Trump is not permitted to discuss Colangelo.

Colangelo was appointed in 2022, while Bragg was looking into a$ 130, 000 pay to pornstar Stormy Daniels to keep her quiet about an alleged event. In April, Colangelo testified in opening remarks to the trial, claiming that Trump had falsified business records as part of a larger campaign to” corrupt the 2016 vote. “

” It was election fraud, pure and simple”, Colangelo said.

Trump regularly has characterized the situation as “election interference”, referring to it as a” Trump monster hunt” and the” Trump event”.

Colangelo was requested by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan in a email requesting information from his time working for the Justice Department on Tuesday. Jordan demanded employees documents pertaining to Colangelo’s hiring, work, and cancellation it, as well as records and correspondences related to Trump or his business.

” Bragg is engaged in one such political trial, which is being led in part by Matthew B. Colangelo, a former senior Justice Department official”, Jordan wrote. ” Accordingly, given the belief that the Justice Department is assisting in Bragg’s political trial, we write to request information and documents related to Mr. Colangelo’s job”.

While at the New York State Attorney General’s Office before Biden became president, Colangelo led the probe into the Trump Foundation, which resulted in its breakdown. According to The New York Times, he also oversaw the investigation that eventually turned into Trump’s legal fraud situation.

The Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment was not instantly responded to by Bragg or the Democratic National Committee.
