Jets head coach Rick Bowness announces his retirement

Rick Bowness, the team’s mind manager, has made the announcement, according to a media release. For the previous two months, Bowness had been the group’s head coach.

Bowness has had a lot of success with the Jets in his short day there, posting a 98-57- 9 report there. In each of Bowness ‘ two seasons with the team, the Jets advanced to the playoffs. and the 69- year- ancient head coach helped lead the franchise to a 52- 24- 6 record ( 110 points ) this season.

It also earned the team’s fourth-best history in the NHL and the second-highest regular-season point overall in team history. Additionally, the Jets set a franchise record for road wins ( 25 ) and tied for first place overall with 52 wins.

Bowness was chosen as the best head coach of the NHL last week as a finalist for the 2023-24 Jack Adams Award. He was the first head coach to win the Jets/Atlanta Thrashers championship.

Bowness’s 36th season as head coach and his 14th overall in the NHL ranks made up the 2023-24 plan. He also served as the head manager of the Dallas Stars, Phoenix Coyotes, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, and Boston Bruins. Before arriving in Winnipeg, Bowness was the Stars mind coach for three months, and tallied a 89- 62- 25 record during that time. Before the team’s defeat by the Tampa Bay Lightning, he helped the Actors reach the Stanley Cup Final.

Next year, the Jets lost to the Colorado Avalanche in five games in the opening round of the 2024 playoffs.
