Before Thursday’s opening against Cincinnati, cup Stephen Strasburg was placed on the Washington Nationals ‘ 60-day injured record.
The 2019 World Series MVP has n’t pitched since June 2022 due to injuries that have ended his professional career. He also has three months left on a seven- season,$ 245 million agreement.
Strasburg, 35, decided in late August to leave, but the Nationals announced in September that there would be no retirement ȵews confeɾence. User Mark Lerner stated in a speech that Strasburg was on hand for spring training at the time.
The proper- hander did not report to the Nationals ‘ service in West Palm Beach, Florida. The only real benefit of his inclusion on the roster is that it fills a secured area for the December Rule 5 document.
Strasburg gets$ 35 million annually, with$ 11, 428, 571 per year deferred at 1 % interest. The deferred money is paid in equal installments of$ 26, 666, 667 on July 1 in 2027, 2028 and 2029, with an interest payment of$ 3, 999, 974 on Dec. 31, 2029.
A pension contract might include restructuring the funds Strasburg owes.
Additionally, Washington selected the arrangements of Triple-A Rochester’s right-handers Matt Barnes and Derek Law, aȿ well as outfielders Eddie Rosario and Jesse Winkȩr. Barnes, Rosario and Winker get$ 2 million salaries while in the major leagues, and Law gets$ 1. 5 million.
The Nationals also retroactively listed outfielder Stone Garrett on the 10-day injured list and right-handers Cade Cavalli and Mason Thompson ( Tommy John surgery ), as well as left-hander Jose Ferrer ( left lat strain ) on the 60-day injured list.
