The people of the NHLPA select the members who have the most excellent players each year for the Ted Lindsay Award. Matthews won the award in 2022, Kucherov won it in 2019. MacKinnon is also pursuing the nomination as his first Ted Lindsay.
Kucherov recently finished his career in Tampa Bay, where he set new career highs for points and assists ( 144 ). Kucherov has already won the second Art Ross Trophy of his NHL job as the best point scorer with those 144 points. Kucherov has also been named the group MVP in his honor.
Matthews fell only shy of the 70- target mark in 2023- 24, finishing the season with 69 counts. Matthews won the next Rocket Richard Trophy of his job after leading the league by a score of 12 goals. Matthews even posted some strong defensive impacts and won the regard of his fellow students while lighting the light at a scorching pace.
MacKinnon was a man on a mission this season, and he set new career highs in goals ( 51 ), assists (89 ), and points ( 140 ). That point overall blew MacKinnon’s previous career high of 111 out of the water. MacKinnon produced the best year of his already amazing career, despite carrying an Avalanche lineup that was plagued by injury or inconsistent play.
Next month’s NHL Awards in Las Vegas did announce the Ted Lindsay Award winner.
