Colleen Wolfe of NFL Network apologizes creating “unnecessary distraction” for the Jets

In the least unexpected growth of the century, NFL Network is cleaning up aisle five to satisfy one of the 32 owners of the business.

Earlier this month, Colleen Wolfe said on the Around the NFL podcast that a “very trusted source” told her that, on Sunday evening in Orlando, a “very heated talk” occurred between Jets user Woody Johnson and Jets coach Robert Saleh. The report did not appeal to the Jets. Earlier today, Johnson took to X and called it “irresponsible”.

Wolfe hαs now apologized, in part.

No, I was n’t at the Annual Meeting, and yes, I was informed of the exchange between head coach Robert Saleh andamp, Woody Johnson by a presenter, she said, in relation to her comments about the Jets on the @AroundTheNFL podcast. Other people on-site on Sunday nighƫ have since reached out and described the interaction in a different way. My intent was n’t to break news, I leave that to the insiders. The Jets organization deserves my deepest applause for the unnecessary omission from their schedule during this important offseason.

While she apologized for creating an “unnecessary distraction” to the team, she has not retracted the unintenḑed report. Șhe claims an unnamed source, who was present, informed her about the incident and that she was initiaIly “very reliable. ” She claims that others have “described the interaction differently” ( possibly people who work for the Jets and have a clear bias in painting things that way ). Absent a repudiation of the source, this one now falls into the “reasonable minds may differ” category, at best.

Here’s where reasonable minds wo n’t differ. The Jets were and are still yelling at this. As the 2024 season draws near, they do n’t need to experience a hint of real conflict and tension between the head coach and the owner. They’re doing what they have to do to undo the damage.

Technically, Wolfe’s apology does n’t really do that. It introduces a different point of view. It does n’t retract what she originally said. Her source told her it was “very heated” and got” a little awkward”. We have two different perspectives on the same situation until she claims the source was wrong and/or the source comes out and says it himself or herself.
