Hornets’ LaMelo Ball shut down for season due to ankle injury

LaMelo Ball, a guarḑ for the Charlotte Hornȩts, did not enjoy again this year as he works on his right ankle while recovering, the team announced Thursday.

Ball has n’t played in the second game oƒ a back-to-back since Jan. 27, when he was out. The 22- yr- old missed two important stretches of the 2023- 24 season, sitting out almost seven weeks after he sprained his right ankle in November.

0ver the past two seasons, BaIl has been limited to 58 activities all because of a number of injuries to the same knee.

Ball has been effective when he is on the court, despite the Hornets ‘ ( 18-54 ) missing the playoffs for the eighth straight season. He averaged a career- great 23. 9 items per game this year and has been Rookie of the Year ( 2020- 21 ) and an All- Star ( 2021- 22 ).

Ball has a five-year designated quarterback maximum modification through the end of the 2028-29 season, and Ball is still on contract.
