‘White House Needs to Clean It Up’ or It Emboldens Hamas

On Thursday’s spread of NewsNation’s” The Hill”, House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Rep. Adam Smith ( D- WA ) said that the White House “needs to clean…up” President Joe Biden’s remarks on Israel to CNN” and reiterate our support for Israel”, because” To the extent it looks like we are separating from Israel, that just gives Hamas all the more incentive to keep fighting”. He also requested that Hamas send a peace message to the White House.

After saying that Biden’s comments were n’t an accurate reflection of the administration’s position, Smith said,” I think that the White House needs to clean it up and reiterate our support for Israel, because I agree with my colleague Rep. Jared Golden ( D- ME), good friend of mine, with his comment]that the remarks are a signal of weakness]. Hamas is currently the main organization preventing a peace. For three decades, there has been a peace. Hamas wo n’t even promise to take the hostages back because they insist on Hamas’s demands that Israel essentially unilaterally surrender, which Hamas wo n’t even make of. If Hamas returns the captives, Israel will agree to a around two-month, eight-week peace, which Hamas has been preventing. That information needs to be sent, in my opinion. Hamas is only given a greater incentive to keep fighting because it appears as though we are separating from Israel.

Because of the fact that Israel is conducting the battle in Gaza, Biden’s speech is” no political,” Smith came to the conclusion. They have n’t provided enough humanitarian aid. That’s been the situation for decades now. Today, it’s gotten better in the last four to six weeks. However, I believe that Israel erred by letting the world know it did n’t care about humanitarian assistance right away. By allowing that charitable aid into Gaza, they have made a big mistake. Additionally, I believe they have been less careful than they should have been when defending the human people in their current campaign in Gaza. And I think it’s perfectly appropriate for the President to urge them to change that, because if they do n’t, it undermines Israel’s security. However, saying that we’re going to slice them out is different. But, I think he needs to understand that, but there’s every reason…to be critical of what Israel has done on certain aspects of the battle”.
