Dolphins trade up to select Tennessee’s Jaylen Wright, add to RB room in Round 4 of 2024 NFL Draft

Wright, an incendiary up who recorded α 4. 38 nexƫ 40-yard daȿh at the NFL Scouting Combine, comes with the best combination of size and speed that enticed NFL groups entering the draft. Miami made a move to wrangle Wright in an effort to get a back who was hit a few home runs in the passing and/or running game.

Hȩ fits nicely into McDaniel’s act, able to hit the space and go. Look no further than the sheer size he posted during his three seasons at Tennessee, where he led the Volunteers in rushing yards in 2022 and 2023, for confirmation. His farewell plan saw him complete with 1, 013 yards and four touchdowns on only 137 carries, becoming Tennessee’s second 1, 000- yard rusher since Jalen Hurd in 2015.

His 7. 4 yards per test normal posted in 2023 proved he’s capable of maximizing returns on a per- have basis, a quality that’s relatively harder to find in today’s NFL. And with many NFL teams switching to committees to replace head backs, Wright might be a low-risk, high-return bell-cow who is churned up yards with lots coming from his rebel speed.

Early in the season, how McDaniel divides up carries will be something to watch, but Miami also wants to add speed to the league’s fastest group with the move to trade a forthcoming pick for Wright.
