D.C. to Force Out 12 Police Officers Due to Controversial Law

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) will pressure 12 of its senior law enforcement officials to stop their jobs on April 30 due to a controversial regulation the Democrat-controlled district handed in 2022 following the 2020 race riots, D.C. supervisory public affairs specialist Thomas Lynch introduced.

MPD has misplaced greater than 1,400 officers because the district handed the laws in 2022, the D.C. Police Union mentioned. Washington, DC’s, council first enacted the regulation in 2020 as emergency laws following George Floyd’s dying.

MPD won’t renew the 12 senior officers’ contracts due to the regulation, which “prohibits the department from appointing police officers who have any serious misconduct in their background,” WTOP News reported. discrimination);
Unlawful cease, search, and/or seizure;
Acts of retaliation or retribution towards a sworn member or individual (together with

Incidents by which a topic is charged by a member with “assault on a police
officer”, “resisting arrest”, or “disorderly conduct” and the prosecuting lawyer
or the courtroom notifies MPD that the cost(s) can be dismissed primarily based on the
member’s credibility;
Incidents by which MPD obtained written notification from the prosecuting
lawyer or courtroom of a constitutional violation involving potential misconduct that was found throughout the course of a felony case or judicial continuing;
Civil lawsuits alleging sworn member misconduct whereas in an official capability.
